Leonessa was founded by me, Vanessa. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 31. I struggled to find fashionable headwear to get through my treatment. Also, hair takes a long time to grow back. I wanted something I could wear even after my treatment ended and my hair grew to a length I actually liked.
It had to be comfortable, convenient (to get out the door with a toddler and baby) and look half decent. A full wig just didn’t sit right. In the end, I purchased a halo wig (a half wig) and made some turbans from material I sourced myself.
When having treatment, other women often asked me where I got my turbans. I even had people with alopecia asking about them when doing the grocery shopping! And so, Leonessa was born.
Designed not only for women fighting cancer, but for all women.
Fighting cancer is hard enough without having to feel disappointed by the lack of fashionable headwear out there. The difference between a good day and a bad day sometimes comes down to having the right headwear to look and feel good.
If you or someone you know wants to step out of the house in something you actually want to wear, Leonessa has you covered.
